I had a wonderful Mother's Day this past Sunday and got pretty spoiled by my boys! It's now a tradition for Orlin and Noah to make me breakfast in bed for both my birthday and for Mother's Day so I was looking forward to a yummy breakfast to wake up to. Noah helped Orlin make pancakes, bacon, and eggs and it was delicious! He was so cute about it and wanted to make sure I liked it! I also got a gift card to my favorite nursery in Snohomish called Mcaulife's and am very excited to get our seeds for our garden and flowers to fill my pots out back. After I spent some time with the boys in the morning I met up with my parents and my sister in Snohomish for coffee at the Snohomish Bakery. It was really nice just to have it be the four of us and we visisted for a good hour or so. We then ventured out and shopped around at a few of our favorite shops. I visisted my very favorite which is Joyworks and found so many cute clothes, but refrained from buying anything even though it was Mother's Day! Later that afternoon Orlin's family came over to celebrate his Mom's birthday and of course Mother's Day as well. Orlin did most of the cooking and his brother's and their significant others also pitched in and brought extra goodies. It was a great night and the food was delicious as usual. I feel pretty lucky that my husband loves to cook and is also really good at it!
Monday Drew started pulling himself up on the fireplace and has been standing for longer periods of time ever since. He also is not intentionally doing it, but is flashing the peace sign quite a bit lately. It's pretty darn cute and I'm just happy he's chosen this to be his first thing of sign language rather than something else!
I have been taking some parenting classes with a few friends and have really enjoyed them so far. The classes are based on a philosophy called "High Trust Parenting" and it's really quite interesting. Last night was the second of four classes and I really got a lot out of it. I feel really good about taking them and hope it will help both Orlin and I be better parents and help our boys to be happier little guys!
