Fun Whidbey Island getaway!

A few weeks back I headed to Whidbey Island with the boys mid week, since our place was open and we were all done with preschool for the year. We invited our friends Erika, and her kids Audrey and Chase to join us and they were up for coming along. Although the weather was not great, we still all managed to have some fun on the beach. We did however, have a little excitement not more than 30 minutes after we arrived. Audrey had thrown a ball into the water and the wind started blowing it away, so Noah decided that he needed to jump in and save the ball! He is not yet a strong swimmer, (had about 10 to 12 private lessons last summer), but still not a solid swimmer. He swam out a little ways and then realized it was getting deeper, so Mom had to jump in to my waist and save him! So glad I was right there to get him! We had a long chat about how balls are replacable, but he is not and that it is never safe to go after something in the water. He was just so concerned about that darn ball and wanted to know what would happen to it. We told him that a seal was probably playing with it and was super excited about it! They day got a little less dramatic, and the kids had a good time playing, but poor Chase had to endure some of Drew's biting and pinching! He is usually not so aggressive, but for whatever reason that day was not a good day for him. By about the 10th time of the kids telling us that Drew had pinced them again, both Erika and I were like "just pinch him back already." The day winded down and after we got the kids to bed, Erika and I enjoyed a movie together. It was lovely. They left the next morning after breakfast and then that afternoon my Dad came to visit for the night. The weather opened up a little and we had tons of fun playing on the beach and even ejoyed a beachfire that night. The boys love their Boppa and I sure enjoy spending time with him as well! We are pretty lucky to have him!
